This eye-opening documentary from HBO is an important work that should be seen by parents of pre-teen and adolescent girls.  The painful realities of anorexia and bulimia, and how they affect not just the victims but their families, are brilliantly portrayed through the often harsh view of the camera's lens.  The complex issues surrounding the real-world stories which are profiled here are often heartbreaking despite the fact that at the outset, the characters are not particularly sympathetic.  As we witness the struggles of the staff at the treatment center and gain a better understanding of the battles they fight every day to save these young women, we learn that the answers do not come easily or quickly.    Among the more critical issues raised in this film are just how our nation's health care system fails to support those who are trying to help these victims.  Perhaps the producers will tackle that in their next film.  -MF
