Magnetic
Time Teacher
This big colorful magnetic board is a super tool for
teaching children all about time. By
tying the lessons together with real life events such as the time a child wakes
up, goes to school, eats dinner and goes to bed the lessons are reinforced with
pictures that the child places on the magnetic surface.
Teachers and parents who used this tool together with children found that
the lessons really took hold. The
next time they returned to use the toy the concepts came back faster and with a
much higher level of understanding, this really impressed our testers.
Suggested Age: 4 to 8 Price: $17.95
Science
Fairs: Earth Science KitSometimes we need a little nudge or a kernel of an idea to
start us on a new adventure. The
Spotlight on Science series from Learning Resources is designed to help students
with science projects looming. Don’t
get the idea that this kit is an instant science project in a box, these are
idea starters not complete science fair projects.
Students must put some of themselves into science projects.
Included are 8 project ideas such as Can Soil Erosion Be Slowed Down and
What Factors Affect Climate. Each
project gives a well thought out description, questions to consider, material
lists, tips, procedures, background information and display ideas all of which
serve to further investigation. They
teach what the scientific process is and what is important for the student to
accomplish. Science projects can be
very intimidating, this kit takes some of that away and helps them get started.
Suggested Age: 8 and Up Price: $13.95
Science
Fairs: Physical Science KitScience projects are a staple of our educational system;
no one gets through their elementary school years without building some sort of
contraption. It is a great exercise
is execution, theorizing and follow through.
This Science Fair kit is filled with great ideas to start your young
scientist on their way. With
suggestion cards such as "Why Some Scents Travel Faster Than Others"
or "How Do Treads Use Friction" there are questions to consider,
material lists, tips, procedures, background information and display ideas.
The idea of this kit is not to give the student the entire project handed
on a silver platter but rather to ignite the spark than can become a terrific
project, one that they will be proud to show off.
