Web Sites

BrainPop.com
Health & Science.com

Finding information on the Internet is becoming more and more of a habit for both children and parents.  Whether it's researching information for homework or a paper, or just finding new and cool stuff, the Internet is a big part of the lives of many families today.  BrainPop.com is the kind of web site that parents have told us they long for.  It is fun, insightful and full of great information.  Children are met with bright colorful graphics and animated hosts, Tim and Moby, who make the learning experience fun.  Kids can explore how digestion works, what makes a rainbow and so much more.  There are pop quizzes to test your knowledge and points can be accumulated by navigating through the site.  Kids can also leave questions that the animated hosts answered right away via e-mail.  There is nothing but great fun here and our testers heartily suggest that you surf on over.

FreeZone
Curiocity's FreeZone

A web site with attitude, mainly one that thinks that kids rule, is what FreeZone is all about.  Designed to give kids a site that they can call their own offers a variety of features that appeal to the pre-teen set.  There are interesting polls such as You Be The Judge where kids hear arguments from two sides on issues such as curfews and friendship and then they weigh in with their opinions. There are interviews and behind the scenes peeks, such as with the summer movie release of Tarzan.  This is not a commercial free zone.  There are ads and plenty of opportunities for advertisers to reach your kids.  But, it is free, it is fun, and our testers gave it a thumbs up.

Recommended Ages: 8 to 14            Suggested Retail Price: Free
